Actress ANNE BANCROFT Has Died, She Was 73

Anne Bancroft, Mrs. Robinson from the film the Graduate, has died. She was 73. A great actress who won the Best Actress Oscar for the Miracle Worker in 1962, Bancroft died from complications with uterine cancer. Bancroft had been married to Mel Brooks since 1964.  She will most likely be remembered for playing Mrs. Robinson in 1967's, The Graduate.

THE SIMPSONS Movie Unofficially In Production!

WHile doing press for her one-woman show in London, Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart) was asked about the Simpsons movie that was recently announced as ready to go at the Cannes film fest.  Cartwright answered that the cast had recently sat down for a table read of the script and that they're starting to record voices now.  Excellent.

Russell Crowe Arrested for Assault!

Apparently the 41 year old Russell Crowe was arrested in New York City for assault after allegedly throwing a telephone and then hitting an employee of NYC's Mercer Hotel.

More BATMAN BEGINS TV Spots & BTS Footage!

Warner Bros' marketing department has gone full throttle. Expect more and more and more from them over the next week and a half as they push to ensure a bang up opening weekend for the caped crusader.  Also expect lots of sneak peaks at trailers attacjed to prints of Batman to be online soon.  Having said all that, the less you expect the less likely you are to be disappointed. Go figure.

Director Walks Off X-MEN 3! UPDATED AGAIN!!

Ratner is officially signed on as the new director! A small amount of skeptical but curious excitement surrounded Matthew Vaughn (dir. Layer Cake, prod. Controversial filmmaker Oliver Stone (Alexander) has been arrested for drunk-driving and possession of drugs in Beverly Hills. The Oscar-winning director was stopped at a police checkpoint on Sunset Boulevard on Friday night. Cops allegedly found naughty party accessories during a search of his Mercedes.

The new War of the Worlds full length trailer and TV spot add more hints of the film without giving anything new away. ?Meanwhile, this brand new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory trailer has a ton of new footage and goes for a slightly different tone and will most likely be a fun-ish flick but will leave you with that Tim Burton empthy feeling afterwards.

More FANTASTIC FOUR, and THE ISLAND Trailers

With the summer season of popcorn, crowds, sweat, air conditioning, and screaming kids in full swing, the majors are pumping theatres and the internet with 8 billion different versions of their big summer money machines. ?Fantastic Four is still feeling lame ("Flame On!") but slowly looking worth a sneak-in, and The Island may be worth sneaking into after walking out of Fantastic just to watch Johansson run.

STAR WARS Dominates 2nd Box Office Weekend!

Star Wars 3George, ILM, and the bastards over at Fox earned another $70m over the weekend. Madagascar did well, coming in second with just over $61m, and the incredibly lame looking Longest Year slide in to the number 3 spot earning $60m.

MR & MRS SMITH Review

The Hollywood Reporter's, Michael Rechtshaffen states, "Expertly tossing off the type of well-sharpened banter that was the domain of Gable and Lombard and Tracy and Hepburn, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie -- no matter what their off-camera status -- make one swell combative couple."  Yeah, yeah, yeah, but are they doing it?
