 Variety is reporting that a deal is being worked out for new man of the moment Steve Carell (40 Year Old Virgin, Anchorman, Bruce Almighty) to take over the lead spot in a quasi-sequel to the lucrative Jim Carrey flick, Bruce Almighty. Carell's side character will take center stage in Alvan Almighty and will be moved my God to build an arch. 3/4's-ass director Tom Shadyac will return and Morgan Freeman may return as God.

 The film adaptation of the hit book of a few years ago was supposed to been directed by Mr. Dreamworks himself, Spielberg, but in the end he didn't to hand over duties to Rob Marshall (dir. Chicago). The flick stars Zhang Ziyi, Ken Watanabe, Gong Li, and Michelle Yeoh. It opens this December and will no doubt be touting itself as the best picture of the year by then damnit.
