The Hollywood Reporter's Kurt Honeycutt doesn't really know how to feel about The Weather Man (the Nicholas Cage and Michael Caine film opening this weekend), but he doesn't hate it. ?After reading this review and Variety's mini-review, you realize how paranoid Hollywood is about selling films with depressed characters. ?That's sad. ? Dig this funny fan edit of the ROTS trailer footage (and footage from the film, er, somehow) that turns Revenge of the Sith in a gay love story between Obi Wan and Anakin. ?The first shot of them holding onto one another on the side of the building is hilarious, the re-edit seems to have been brought on by the trailer for Ang Lee's, Brokeback Mountain. Check it.

Doom earned $15.4 million to win this weekend's box office challenge. ?I don't care what the supposedly it's-not-awful reviews have said, this thing looks freakin' crappy. ?Video game adaptations never work. ?N-E-V-E-R. ?Take that, upcoming Halo adaptation. ?You're doomed! (Get it? Doomed) Anywho. The only decent flicks on the top ten these days seem to be the Wallace and Gromit movie (3rd in the top ten) and A History of Violence (9th on the top ten). It's hard to tell if this flick will completely blow. ?Aeon Flux (based on the MTV Liquid Television short that became an animated series) stars Charlize Theron as barely clothed action spy (see also, Trinty from the Matrix films) and opens next month. ?Dig the new featurette.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet (City of Lost Children, Amelie, A Very Long Engagement) has signed on to cowrite and direct the film adaptation of The Life of Pi, the award winning book by Yann Martel. The book concerns a boat trip a boy takes with a tiger. ?At one point, M. Night Shyamalan (Six Sense, Unbreakable, The Village) was offered the film, but turned it down to work on his next original work, The Lady in the Water.

When you watch a competition where you have no stake--you don't really care who wins--do you find yourself cheering for the underdog? I had that feeling when I was putting "The Defender" into my DVD player; I was rooting for this film so hard and not just because it co-stars Jerry Springer as the President of The United States.

The Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni comedy, The Fun With Dick and Jane, looks a bit more slick and funnier in this, the 2nd trailer from the upcoming holiday flick. ?In Neil Jordan's (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, The Crying Game) Breakfast on Pluto, Batman Begins' Scarecrow, Cillian Murphy, is a transgendered, umm, person looking for his mom in the groove of seventies London.

We know, this movie opened last weekend and didn't do half bad at the box office, but it looks awful and we thought we'd post a shitty review of it that we thought was funny. ?Enjoy The New Yoker Magazine's, David Denby's, great review of Noah Baumbach's, The Squid and the Whale, and his seething review of Cameron Crowe's, Elizabethtown.
