 Yep. Soft-ish. Only in Hollywood (only in America) can a $50 million dollar opening weekend be described as soft or an underperformance. But then again, Kong cost $200 million to make. Could Kong be in trouble of not making it's money back? No. The Family Stone, Syriana, Walk the Line, and Brokeback Mountain performed well. Click over for the numbers.

 American Dreamz looks like it could be an inventive satire on our craptastic American way. ?The story centers on a stupid president who's handlers decide he should be a judge on an American-Idol-like TV for a PR bump. ?Hugh Grant plays the host of the show, Mandy Moore plays a contestant, and Dennis Quaid plays the asshat president. ?The flick is directed by Paul Weitz (About a Boy, In Good Company).

 The 3rd Mission Impossible flick stars Tom Cruise, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ving Rhames, Michelle Monaghan, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Laurence Fishburne, Billy Crudup and was directed by JJ Abrams (creator of TV's Alias, Felicity, Lost). ?Cruise and his producing partners had cycled through a number of other directors before settling on Abrams (and after firing Narc director Joe Carnahan)?Mission Impossible 3 opens next May.
