The new Texas Chainsaw bullshit is produced by poet-warrior Michael Bay (who produced the remake) and is a prequel (it's like that word didn't exist until Lucas gave it to us. ?The prequel's one good asset, Jordana Brewster. The Wicker Man, a remake of the '73 flick that starred Christopher Lee, now stars Nicolas Cage, Leelee Sobieski, and Ellen Burstyn and is directed by Neil LaBute (Your Friends & Neighbors, Nurse Betty). This one's for the ladies. ?Look for SNL's Amy Poehler and Tim Robbin to make appearences. ?Still no firm release date on the full film, it's supposed to be sometime this fall. ?Studio marketers would be idiots not to have a full-length trailer ready for next week's Nacho Libre release. ? Harry Knowles, the lead-geek at Aintitcool spoke over the phone with love'em/hate'em director M. Night Shyamalan about Night's new summer pic, Lady in the Water. ?Night talks about the film, Harry dorks out all over him. ?What they don't discuss is how bad the WB marketing campaign has been so far (seems like they have no idea how to sell this flick). Jessica Alba talked to USAToday recently during a press junket for the upcoming MTV Movie Awards. ?When talking about going back to work in August on Fantastic(ally awful) Four 2, she dropped this, "The four of us learn that there are other people out there with superpowers, and the Silver Surfer appears as a villain/hero. And another villain comes in as well." Click on for more.

SoaP (Snakes on a Plane) is now online. ?This "bootleg" from an audience member inside a theatre somewhere rides on the cult before-anyone's-seen-it classic buzz that been circling it ever since geek's who like snakes (and cheap action) got fired up about it. ?The flick stars Sam Jackson, Kenan Thompson (SNL), and random others and is the first film by stunt coordinator David R. Ellis. Dig the booted Teaser.

If this is Michael Bay (dir. Pearl Harbor, The Rock, Bad Boys, The Island), maybe he's trying to open up to us (the people that get angry sometimes 'cause his movies are so bad). ?Bay writes on his blog (dated 5/28), "I just hope people don't spoil it for people hearing everything in the movie before they see the movie - that's so lame." He claims the script reviews online are 4 months old. ?He goes on about filmming cool-looking planes. ? Maybe we should go easy on him, he doesn't sound all that smart.

Expect to see more of the Rat. A lot more. That little guy (dir. Video mash-ups are still the new song mash-ups if you ask us. We love fan edits too. Here some guy edits Robocop into the final gun-down from The Matrix. Neo and RC appear together, shootin' it out in a green-hued universe. Cool tricks. Can't wait to see what happens when people start successfully mashing together dramas and comedies to create entirely new flicks. Dig it in YouTube's flash format.

Strangers With Candy could be terrible (or great). It stars Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, Greg Hollimon, Ian Holm, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick and a bunch of other hip New York-based actors that are friends of friends of Amy Sedaris. ?Sadaris is nuts. Dave Letterman's Worldwide Pants produced the film. ?The other new trailer is from some guy who doesn't know what a cinematographer is (see also, Kevin Smith).

Nic Cage, you need to stop making shit movies. ?Nuff said. ?This thing looks bad to us. ?This thing was directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil, Simon Birch), a man we think should not be let anywhere near another comic book property ever. ?Ever. ?It's not all his fault, though. ?This isn't an easy book to adapt. ?The talking skull thing ain't happening. ? Check out the burnin' bike in all its glory...
