Vertigo's PREACHER Becoming HBO Series DC Vertigo's comic, Preacher, which has long been in feature film development, is now set to become a series on HBO. Smart move. HBO's TV slate needed a boost, a serial show about a sub-human preacher will bump things up nicely. DA VINCI Team Nears ANGELS & DEMONS Deal? Soft serve screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (wr. Da Vinci Code, A Beautiful Mind, Batman & Robin) has signed a large deal ($4m) to adapt Ron Brown's earlier novel for the screen. PETER JACKSON Not Doing LOTRs Prequels Apparently a lawsuit over fees for the LOTRs films has got in the way of Peter Jackson's involvement in the planned prequels (The Hobbit and an unamed flick). New Line Cinema has a small window in which to make the films and the lawsuit won't be resolved before Jackson would have to begin working on the new projects.
